This class will cover the cycle of felting, starting with shearing the sheep to the end product of a felted piece that you will create with both needle felting and wet felting. We will discuss shearing, skirting, classing, picking, carding and felting, with an introduction to tools that are used in these processes.
Each student will start by needle felting a small design, which they will then incorporate into a wet felted project, using wool that is locally grown in our fibershed, as well as naturally dyed wool.
We will have a potluck lunch, giving everyone time to socialize with the instructor and fellow students.
What to bring:
- Something to share for the potluck lunch
- Personal beverages and snacks
- Layered clothing for variations in weather
- Notebook and camera if desired
